Floating tropical fish, and fluttering butterflies are usually following her. She is in a constant state of change whether it is her hair, her eyes, her clothes, or even her height. Her eyes are always two different colors (blue and green) and her hair is often bright and curly.
PERSONALITY
She is the youngest of the Endless, embodying the concept of change and transformation. Following a traumatic event, Delight, the original persona of the Endless (who later became known as Delirium), suffered a change of personality. This transformation happened long before the creation of humanity.
It is disclosed that one of Delirium's former partners was cruel to her. Although the exact circumstances of this abuse are not known, it is obvious that it had a significant impact on her psyche. Delirium’s aversion to being touched matches someone who has been repeatedly abused by a toxic relationship. The only way she could get through her trauma was to accept and welcome madness. It was either that or die.
Emotional and immature, Delirium is often irritating her other siblings. She is too curious and never thinks twice about diving into any kind of danger; Delirium needs constant supervision to keep her from becoming lost in her own realm or falling victim to another awful situation. Some of her siblings are reluctant to look after her, while her sister Death will go out of her way to take Delirium to see a movie. Destruction eventually assigns his talking dog Barnabas to look after her in his absence. Delirium is often described as flighty and scatterbrained. She speaks in a rapid-fire stream-of-consciousness style, with her words jumping from one topic to the next without warning. She sees the world in a unique way, and her comprehension of the true nature of reality is both deep and poetic. Despite her tendency to veer off subject, there is an undeniable structure to her ideas.
Delirium has a reputation for having a poor memory, and she often struggles to recall important details or events from her past and even misplaces her belongings. She doesn’t intend to forget these things. It’s just that there are so many thoughts running through her head that it becomes difficult to stay in the present.
Even as Delirium, she has a playful nature about her. There’s a part of her that still clings to Delight. As the youngest of The Endless, she acts how she looks and can have a very short fuse. If you upset her, she will respond maliciously. Delirium has been known to punish those who have hurt her and punish them without mercy. When she argues with someone, it’s usually completely irrational and without foundation.
SKILLS + ABILITIES
One of the seven Endless, inconceivably powerful beings, Delirium is both lord and personification of all Delirium and Sanity. She has god-like powers and absolute control over her realm, which is a chaotic, constantly changing mass of colors and strange objects and shapes. She is capable of bringing sanity or madness to any and all within her scope.
- Omnipresence
- Near-Omniscient
- Shapeshifting
Her features constantly change depending on her mood and various mental states. Her chaotic mood also allows her to change her own clothes, hair, and eye color at will.
- Teleportation
She can travel instantly anywhere people live and die in the mortal realm, and, so long as she shows proper respect, she can easily enter and transit most magical realms. It is said that Delirium knows pathways outside of Destiny's garden, which only she may travel.
- Sorcery
Delirium has nigh-omnipotent mastery of magic. She can also create anything she imagines and warp reality, including manipulating people's minds.
- Precognition
Delirium has the ability to know of an event that has not yet happened. However, their prophecies often don't make sense until it's too late.
- Reality Manipulation
Delirium has a great ability to enter the minds of humans, accessing people's sanity and madness. She can often figure out what kind of wild ideas someone is thinking. It can cause a person to lose their sanity and go crazy, or vice versa.
- Madness Absorption
In addition to controlling and being the physical version of Delirium, she is able to absorb people's lack of sanity to become stronger. Crazy thoughts, madness, sanity, and crazy ideas are food so she can use her powers however she wants.
- Life Generation
Delirium can sometimes create butterflies, fish, frogs, and other small creatures that are always floating around or above the ground as a chaotic way to demonstrate its impersonation.
AESTHETIC
HEADCANONS
Blue-And-Orange MoralityEmotional and immature, Delirium is often irritating her other siblings. CloudcuckoolanderIs she good? Is she bad? Her sense of right and wrong operates within a moral system entirely at odds with the human experience. So, as a natural consequence, when people encounter Delirium, they really have no idea what they are getting into.
Disproportionate RetributionDelirium is a space case. She’s cute and has got her head stuck in the clouds (metaphorically and literally). Delirium is energetic and uninterested in things that everyone else considers normal. Delirium is prone to over-talking. She will ramble to herself or anyone near her. When she argues with someone, it’s usually completely irrational and without foundation. She forgets words constantly and is the Queen of Double Entendre. Delirium has vast knowledge and understanding of the universe’s workings, but she has a terrible way of conveying it to the rest of the world. Don’t waste your time explaining societal norms to Delirium because she would not understand why what she was doing was inappropriate in the first place.
Worst Kept SecretIf you do anything, please just don’t upset Delirium. She is blind to reason and quick to act maliciously. You could wind up like that cop who pulled her over. He’s in a mental institution now, thinking he’s covered in bugs.
Fashionably UnfashionableWhile her oldest brother has a book of everything that ever was, all that is, and all that will be, Delirium knows everything that what wasn’t, what isn’t, and what will never happen. She is the personification of all that knowledge, and not even her siblings can begin to understand it. Does Delirium even understand it herself? Good question.
Her style? It screams of 80s Punk Glam Reject. Fashion is fickle, and Delirium is clearly uninterested in any fashion rules. She never matches, and people often mistake her for a homeless person. Throughout the day, her outfit can change several times in the blink of an eye.
